Helping Hand for Rural Pets
Getting Veterinary Help for Your Rural Pet If you need help with a sick or injured pet, please send an email to [email protected] with detailed information about the problem. Be sure to include your telephone number. ARVO may be able help with transportation to Anchorage. Pet owner will be responsible for the cost of the vet, and will need to give credit card information to the vet clinic before sending the animal in. Air Travel Crates If you don't have use of an air travel crate, we may be able to send one out to you. We will ask that you return the crate to us when your pet has returned home. Or, if you send an animal to Anchorage in your own crate we will see that the crate is returned. Releasing Ownership of a Rural Pet If you wish, you may release ownership of your pet. You will need to write and sign a note that says you are giving the animal away. Click here for a sample release of ownership note. ARVO will work with a reputable rescue group to accept your animal into their rescue/rehome program. Seeking Medical Advice for a Pet ARVO does not have a full-time vet. Our volunteers cannot diagnose what is wrong with your pet, send you medications, or give you detailed treatment recommendations. In the column to the right, we have provided some resources that may be helpful to you. |
